Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, primarily using a spherical ball. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting the ball into the opposing team’s net. It is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

Football is widely known as soccer in some countries, including the United States and Canada, to differentiate it from other forms of football. The game is played on a rectangular field, typically grass or artificial turf, with a goal at each end. Players can use any part of their body except their arms and hands (goalkeepers may use their hands within the penalty area) to control the ball.

The sport enjoys immense global popularity, with major competitions such as the FIFA World Cup and UEFA Champions League drawing millions of fans. Football is also recognized for promoting teamwork, strategy, and athleticism, making it a central part of many cultures around the world.
